Melby Memorial Cornhole Tournament
Tournament Rules and Regulations

The Cornhole Tournament will start at 9:00 am on June 17th, 2023.

Ground Rules

Carry-in beverages, including alcohol and food is allowed. There will be food trucks also available during the day.
Please begin play promptly as soon as both teams are available. If a team is unavailable within five minutes of DJ announcement, the game will be considered a forfeit.
General Play Rules (Applies to both Pool Play and Tournament Play)
Both participants must be listed on roster and sign waiver prior to the start of first pool play game. Each team consists of two players, of any gender combination. Teammates will be positioned across from each other on opposite boards.
Boards will be placed 25 feet apart, from front to front.
All players will throw from behind the foul line or the front of the board they are throwing from. Players must throw all four bags each inning.

Game Format:

A game is won when a team ends an inning with 21 or more points.
A team may win by scoring more than 21 points.
The scoring team from the previous inning will throw first in the next inning.

Scoring:
Beanbag in the hole – 3 pts
Beanbag on any portion of the platform (not in the hole) — 1 pt
Overall inning score – the sum of all bags of the lower scoring team is subtracted from the sum of all bags of the higher scoring team, and only the higher scoring team records points for that inning (i.e. Red team = 9, Blue team = 5, Inning score = 4 pts for Red, 0 for Blue)

Fouls:
A beanbag thrown in noncompliance with any of the rules will be considered a foul bag:
(1) A contestant steps on or over the foul line prior to the bag leaving their hand, or
(2) A contestant throws out of turn.
A foul bag must be removed from play, and is forfeited (the contestant does not get to re-throw the foul bag). Any beanbags that have been moved by a foul bag must be replaced to their original position prior to the next throw.
