Natalie Hildebrandt (2016)

When Melby Memorial Charities (MMC) was formed in 2013, we did so with the purpose of assisting families that are experiencing a difficult situation who also happen to have some sort of close relationship to the sport of volleyball.  Our inaugural year, we reached out to the Paul Melby family after his passing to assist his wife and three children with athletic expenses throughout the year (sports camps, sporting equipment, registration expenses and so on).  After that, we recognized that there were other families in the area that may also need a helping hand.  Our second year, we reached out to the Hildebrandt family in Kenyon.  Sine then, we’ve gone on to assist the Eide family in Chatfield, the Jensen’s in Dover, the Vold’s in Wabasha, the Tara Biever family also from Wabasha, the Hunzeker family from Stewartville and the vanKoeverdens from Rochester.

The Jensen Family (2016)

MMC, who hosts the Melby Memorial Volleyball Tournament & 5K every summer in Rochester, MN, raised over $50,000 in their first 6 years.  Each year, as word travels, we continue to grow both as an event and as a family.  Our hopes and goals each year are to raise more than the previous year and continue to assist volleyball families get through their difficult times.

We invite you to read our recipient’s stories written in their own words on each of the next subpages attached to this page.
